California EVV Requirements
To comply with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) regulations, all EVV systems must capture:
- Service Type
The type of care provided - Recipient
The individual receiving the service - Service Date
The date the service was performed - Service Location
The place where service was delivered - Caregiver
The individual providing the service - Service Duration
The exact time the service begins and ends
California has implemented two phases of EVV requirements:
Phase I (Implemented January 1, 2021)
Requires provider agencies to use either the state’s CalEVV system or an approved third-party vendor.
Phase 2 (Implemented January 1, 2022)
